Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to tutoring services, bookings, communications and website use relating to Extra Math Class. By making a booking, paying for lessons, submitting an enquiry or continuing with tutoring services, the parent, guardian or adult learner accepts these terms, subject always to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
1. Tutoring Services
Extra Math Class provides maths tutoring and academic support, including one-on-one, small-group and/or online lessons. The exact format, timetable, tutor, fees and lesson arrangements may be confirmed separately in writing, by email or WhatsApp.
2. Payment and Reservation of Sessions
- Classes are payable monthly in advance.
- Proof of payment must be sent at least 48 hours in advance of the booked session to reserve the learner’s session.
- A booking is only regarded as secured once the required payment arrangements have been completed and the session has been confirmed.
3. Cancellations, Credits and Late Arrival
- Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled lesson may be credited or rescheduled, subject to availability.
- Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the lesson may be forfeited, subject to applicable consumer-law rights and the reasonableness requirements of the Consumer Protection Act.
- If a learner is more than 15 minutes late, the session may be forfeited or shortened and will still count as the booked lesson.
- Credits are valid for one month from the original booking date. Unused credits may expire after that period unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4. Technology for Online Lessons
For online lessons, the learner is responsible for having a working device, stable internet connection, functioning camera/microphone where required, electricity and access to the agreed platform. Technology problems on the learner’s side will not automatically qualify as a reason to reschedule without the required 48-hour notice.
5. Tutor or Extra Math Class Cancellations
If Extra Math Class has to cancel a confirmed lesson, we will make reasonable efforts to offer a replacement session or credit. A learner will not lose a paid lesson solely because Extra Math Class cancelled it.
6. Academic Results
Tutoring is intended to support understanding, confidence, study habits and exam preparation. We do not guarantee a particular mark, promotion, admission outcome or examination result. Results depend on many factors, including attendance, learner effort, school requirements and completion of assigned work.
7. Parent / Guardian Responsibilities
Where the learner is a minor, the parent or guardian is responsible for providing accurate information, ensuring the learner attends on time, communicating relevant educational needs, and paying agreed fees. Parents and guardians should inform us of any matter that may materially affect tutoring, while avoiding unnecessary disclosure of sensitive information.
8. Conduct
Respectful conduct is required from learners, parents, guardians and tutors. Extra Math Class may suspend or end services where there is threatening, abusive, discriminatory, unlawful or seriously disruptive conduct, subject to applicable law and fair notice where appropriate.
9. Intellectual Property
Original worksheets, lesson notes, graphics, website content and teaching resources supplied by Extra Math Class remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. They are provided for the learner’s personal educational use and may not be commercially reproduced, resold or distributed without permission.
10. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or limit any right that a consumer has under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or other applicable South African law. In particular, any cancellation charge relating to an advance booking must remain reasonable in the circumstances.
11. Personal Information
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and POPIA Privacy Notice. Where learner information relates to a child, the parent or guardian should provide the information and appropriate consent.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when our services, booking processes or legal obligations change. The updated version will be posted on the website with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes affecting existing bookings will be communicated where reasonably necessary.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute should first be raised with Extra Math Class so that a reasonable attempt can be made to resolve it directly.
